IMD forecasts temp dip to 11°C in next 7-days, Foggy Conditions Expected in Valley
With chilly wind gushing in and a dip in mercury, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a significant dip in temperatures and persistent foggy conditions over the coming days in the region. Rainfall has been reported from several places, including Udharbond and Borkhola. Neighbouring district, Dima Hasao too experienced the first spell of rainfall this year on Wednesday morning. Temperatures are likely to drop as low as 11°C over the next 7 days.
With Makar Sankranti and Bihu falling next week, the usual drop in temperature is brought by the Southwesterly winds. Starting from January 8, temperatures are expected to fall to a low of 16°C and reach a maximum of 25°C, with fog and mist in the mornings, giving way to partly cloudy skies later in the day.
By January 9, the minimum temperature will drop to 14°C, with a maximum of 27°C, and fog/mist will continue in the mornings, clearing into a mainly clear sky. The trend of foggy mornings and clear skies later in the day will persist through January 10 to 11, with lows of 12°C and highs around 28°C.
From January 12 onwards, temperatures will dip further to a minimum of 11°C, with daytime highs reaching 27°C on January 12, 25°C on January 13 and 14, and continued fog or misty conditions expected throughout the day.
