Silchar's Saptaraj Chakraborty’s new series, Pyaar Testing on Zee 5 explores live-in relationships with a twist!

Silchar born filmmaker Saptaraj Chakraborty’s new web series, Pyaar Testing set in Rajasthan juxtaposes modern day live-in relationships with the dynamics of a traditional arranged marriage. The ‘ romance drama’ featuring Plabita Borthakur and Satyajeet Dubey in lead roles released on Valentine’s Day this year on OTT platform, Zee 5.

“ This is a story that dares to ask important questions about relationships, commitment and the idea of testing love before taking the big leap”, elaborated Chakraborty who has co-directed the series with Shiva Varma.
Chakraborty had previously co-directed the Jiocinema comedy series Bajao featuring rapper Raftaar . He is also a very successful ad filmmaker and has co-created quite a few award winning advertisement campaigns for some of the leading brands.

In a traditional arranged marriage set up between two conservative Rajput families the bride Amrita Singh Chauhan played by Borthakur proposes a live-in relationship for two months before actually tying the knot . Dubey plays the role of the groom Dhruv Pratap Rathore in Pyaar Testing.

In this era of dating apps when the concept of love has acquired a whole new meaning, the Zee 5 series explores the insecurities young people face before entering into a marriage. Can love bridge the gap between old and new ways of thinking ?

“ Pyaar Testing revolves around the modern day idea of live-in relationships. However there is a twist- this live-in isn’t just between the couple, it happens under the same roof with the guy’s side of the family”, co-director Varma iterated.
