The centrepiece of the celebrations, the consecration of the Universal Temple, will take place on March 18. A grand procession will lead from the old shrine to the new temple, where the sacred rituals will be performed. A public meeting will follow, with addresses by the revered monks and the Chief Minister. The day will conclude with a cultural programme showcasing Assam’s rich traditions and devotional performances.

The final two days, 19 and 20 March, will be marked by spiritual initiations, devotional gatherings, and theatrical performances portraying the divine life of Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi.

As per their website, the Ramakrishna Mission in Cachar started their service during the devastating floods of 1915 when monks helped the affected people. It became the Ramakrishna Sevashrama in 1927 and was officially affiliated with Belur Math in 1939. Since then, it has been serving in Silchar, offering spiritual guidance and welfare activities. Now, in 2025, the Mission is proudly celebrating its centenary, marking 100 years of dedicated service to society.

The new temple building has a stunning architecture showcasing cultural aspects of the 8 states of the North East and Hindu vastu stapathya styles.
