
Sribhumi Police Seizes 422 Grams Concealed Heroin From Truck's Spare Tyre, Arrests Two
Sribhumi police seized 442 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside a truck’s spare tyre during an anti-narcotics operation at the Puwamara bypass area early on Thursday morning (March 27).
As per Sribhumi Police, the truck, bearing registration number AS 24 AC 3144, was coming from the Churachandpur district of Manipur when it was intercepted.
Upon inspection, officers discovered 40 soap cases containing the suspected narcotics. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the case. They have been identified as Parbej Uddin, son of Abdul Jalil, a resident of Mubarakpur under Karimganj PS in Sribhumi district, and Rahim Uddin, son of Abdul Samad, a resident of Bhairabi under Ramnathpur Police Station in Hailakandi district.
Superintendent of Police Sribhumi, Partha Protim Das, shared details of the operation, stating that legal action has been initiated to trace both the forward and backward linkages of the drug trade. The successful operation was also lauded by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been vocal about the state’s crackdown on drug trafficking.
