Four Anti-Drug Operations in 24 Hours: 9 Peddlers Nabbed in Cachar

In a major operation against illegal drugs, Cachar Police launched four separate raids in the early hours of Sunday and seized narcotic substances weighing around 416 grams. The total estimated market value of the seized drugs is about Rs 2 crore.

According to credible intelligence, the operations were carried out in different parts of the district to stop the transportation and sale of illegal drugs.

In the first operation, police caught two drug peddlers, Makbul Hussain of Dholai and Jamaluddin of Sonai, on National Highway 37 near ONGC. After a thorough search, officers recovered six soap cases filled with suspected heroin, weighing nearly 78 grams.

In another operation based on a tip-off, police intercepted a Night Super Bus and arrested two people, Dilbar Hussain (24) and Kamrul Islam (26), both residents of Hailakandi. Thirteen soap cases containing suspected heroin, weighing around 149 grams, were found inside the bus. This operation was carried out under the jurisdiction of Kalain Police Station.

In the third raid, Cachar Police searched the house of Anar Hussain, a resident of Saidpur, Silchar. Officers found sixteen soap cases with suspected heroin, weighing about 177 grams. Legal action has been initiated.

The police also conducted a special drive in Silchar area and arrested five more drug peddlers. They seized 44 vials containing around 12 grams of suspected drugs.

All the seized substances were sealed in the presence of independent witnesses. Investigations are continuing in all the cases. Cachar Police have assured that strong action will continue against drug-related crimes in the district.
