Two Drug Peddlers From Nagaon Held With Heroin Worth Rs. 29 Lakh Near Silchar Railway Station

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Cachar Police apprehended two drug peddlers near the Silchar Railway Station under the jurisdiction of Silchar Police Station.

Acting on a reliable input, the police conducted an operation on Tuesday (April 15) evening in the area and apprehended the accused — Abalur Rehman, son of Shahjahan Ali, and Jinnat Ali, son of Abdul Malik. Both are residents of Rupohi, Teliha Chapori in Nagaon district.

During the operation, police recovered five soap cases containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 58 grams. A Drug Detection Kit (DDK) test returned a positive result for heroin.

According to police estimates, the seized contraband is valued at around Rs. 29 lakh in the black market. The narcotic substance has been seized, and a case has been registered.

“Further investigation into the matter is currently underway,” a police statement confirmed.
