Muslim Community In Barak Valley Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Silent Protests Held In Mosques
In a strong display of unity and condemnation, the Muslim community across Barak Valley staged silent protests on Friday (April 25) against the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The incident, which has sparked outrage nationwide, was met with silent black badge demonstrations outside nearly every mosque in the valley before the Jumma Namaz.
At Silchar’s Boro Masjid, Muslims gathered in large numbers before the prayers, holding placards and wearing black badges to silently denounce the heinous act.
Hazrat Maulana Sabbir Ahmed, the head Imam of Boro Masjid, strongly condemned the attack, stating, “Terrorism has no place in Islam. We are staunchly against terrorism. Islam teaches peace and bonhomie. Good relations with people, keeping one’s character good is what Islam teaches. Allah helps the ones who help others.”
Echoing the sentiments, former BJP MLA and recently joined Congress leader Aminul Haque Laskar said, “Pahalgam is a part of heaven. It’s called the Switzerland of India. Pakistan-supported terrorist organisations like TRF, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, have orchestrated this terror attack. People from outside the country have entered Kashmir and carried out this act. We strictly condemn this and support the government in all its steps. The Pakistan government doesn’t want Indian Muslims to live in peace, and that’s how they disturb the harmony.”
The protests were held in accordance with the directive of All India Imam Organisation Chief, Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi, who had called for nationwide demonstrations after Jumma prayers. Responding to the call, Muslims across Barak Valley—including Silchar, Sribhumi, and Hailakandi—participated in peaceful protests.
Protesters held placards declaring Islam’s stance against violence and terrorism and demanded strict action against the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack. They also called for a strong diplomatic response to Pakistan, whom they blamed for harbouring terrorist elements.
With messages of peace, unity, and justice, the Barak Valley Muslim community sent out a clear signal: there is no place for terror in their faith or their country.
