Minor boy commits suicide in Cachar

A 15-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree at Nagadum village under Udharbond constituency in Cachar district on Tuesday.

The deceased Titu Biswas was the son of Anil Biswas, a resident of Thaligram.

According to sources, Titu went out from his home in the morning and reached the jungle at Nagadum. After going there, he hanged himself with a rope from a tree. Few local residents, who were passing by the area after some time spotted him following which the news spread like a wildfire with people in huge numbers gathering in the area to have a sight of the deceased.

The matter was then informed to Udharbond police soon after which a team of officials led by probationary SI Sanjoy Basumatary and ASI Jatindra Singh reached the spot and recovered the dead body.

The body, which was eventually taken to Udharbond police station, was later sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem.

The reason behind the boy’s suicide could not be known, as per last available reports.
