Teacher and famous author Anandalal Nath is no more

His words depicted the mood of the region, his lines got people rolling on the floor and his humorous stanzas always carried meaningful lessons. Though he was not a young millennial, yet his videos went viral on social media platforms. 60 years old Anandalal Nath, resident of Hailakandi’s Mohanpur area was a teacher by profession and an author driven by passion. His books ‘Mithair Mocha’ (Pack of sweets) and ‘Matileu Bera’ (If you speak you are in trouble) are still very popular among sylheti population around the world.

As per available information he was suffering from Jaundice since past few days and yesterday afternoon succumbed to death following a cardiac arrest. The news of his demise has left the whole of Barak Valley in a state of mourning. His recent poem on NRC went viral all across including West Bengal. While Sylheti is still a widely spoken dialect of Bengali, there are very few authors who write Sylheti poems and proses, Anandalal Nath was one one of them.

He was attached with various organisations like ‘BARNI KATHA’, Mohanpur Rantilla Shahid Smoron Committee, Barak Upotyoka Banga Sahitya O Sangskriti Sammelan. His death leaves a big void.
