
A junior doctor at SMCH who was on surveillance duty tests COVID positive; 3 in ICU
Shatabdi Das a doctor at Silchar Medical College and Hospital has tested positive for COVID 19 today.
Vice-principal, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that Dr. Shatabdi das wasn’t at SMCH, instead, she was deputed on surveillance duty. “She was in Udharbond side and was checking door to door for fever, ILI and SARI related patients,” said Gupta.
Gupta informed that Dr. Das has been admitted to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. “She does not have any travel history,” said Gupta.
He added that the people who came in contact with doctor Shatabdi Das will be traced and tested for COVID 19.
Her samples were collected under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme.
Gupta also informed that three patients are currently at the ICU in SMCH and one is in critical condition. Lately, there has been a significant rise in the number of COVID positive cases in Cachar and Barak Valley and that is why the SMCH has ramped up the ICU capacity in COVID block from two to 10.
Vice-principal informed that currently there are 117 patients admitted to the COVID block at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
