ABVP makes a clean sweep in GC College Students' Union Elections; Rohit Chanda becomes president
Elections to the Gurucharan College were held today for forming the Students’ Union body after 11 long years. In all the 10 posts, members of ABVP emerged victorious making a clean sweep in the college elections.
A total of 1014 students had cast their votes out of 5360 students on the voter list which means only 18.92 percent of the votes were cast. Rohit Chanda got elected as the President of the Students’ Union getting 769 votes defeating his rival Anjuma Aktar Laskar who got 188 votes. Snehanshu Shekhar Bhattacharya got elected as the Vice President by fetching 802 votes as opposed to his rival Ripan Choudhury who managed to secure 136 votes.
Tushar Ghose was elected as the General Secretary getting 699 votes defeating his nearest rival Nandini Ghosh who got 218 votes. Ankush Deb was elected as the Assistant General Secretary getting 699 votes defeating his nearest rival A. Rohan Singha who got 207 votes. Rakesh Singha was elected as the Sports Secretary getting 803 votes defeating his rival Gautam Das who got 142 votes. Gobindo Paul was elected as the Cultural Secretary getting 670 votes defeating his rival Bishal Das who got 243 votes.
Bishal Nath was elected as the Boys Common Room Secretary getting 694 votes defeating his rival Jabir Mahmud Laskar who got 243 votes Hritika Khersa was elected as the Girls Common Room Secretary by getting 766 votes defeating her rival Dipa Das who got 156 votes.
Sharing his delight, Rohit Chanda, the newly elected President of the GC College Students’ Union said “First of all, I will be eternally indebted to all the students and brothers and sisters of Gurucharan College for winning me the post of President in today’s Students’ Union elections. As I have always fought for the students in the past, I will fight for the interests of the students as the President of the Students’ Union in the future also. I thank from the bottom of my heart to all the karyakartas of Vidyarthi Parishad who have given me help and support. I hope to get everyone’s help and guidance in the coming days.”
