'Acche Din for Lakhipur': CM Himanta Biswa Sarma makes a series of development-related announcements
The Chief Minister’s visit to Rajargram village in Lakhipur constituency on Sunday became a huge festival and celebration with pomp and show for the entire constituency. After completion of various activities in Silchar and meeting with Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reached Lakhipur at 5:00 in the evening to inaugurate the Shaheed Nandachand Bridge over the Chiri River. His arrival was long awaited by the people of the constituency and he was given a grand welcome by the citizens.
This was his first visit to Lakhipur after the election, where he inaugurated the new bridge at 5:30 in the evening and later addressed the media and general public gathered. At 5:30 he along with Kaushik Rai, the MLA of Lakhipur and other ministers, paid floral tributes to the Shaheed and later inaugurated the bridge near the banks of Chiri River. Later, he planted a tree near the site. Speaking to the media he said, “today we just inaugurated the work of the bridge, we will build a huge statue of Shaheed Nandachanda here after completion of the bridge”. Shaheed Nandachand was a resident of Lakhipur who sacrificed his life during the Kargil War in 1999.
After this inauguration ceremony, he also participated in a public meeting at the playground of Earl High School in Lakhipur. In the huge public gathering, the CM expressed his happiness to witness the enthusiasm. In the meeting he said, “During the elections as we have promised, we will soon sanction the fund for the constriction of the Sub-Divisional Office. The building will be constructed with the budget amount worth 25 crores and this building will have all the facilities. Other small offices will be within this building, so that people don’t have to go to different places for different offices. In the month of May or June, I’ll visit once again to start the work for this office”.
The CM has also went on sight to see the proposed plot of land for the office of the SDO in his address he has also mentioned other schemes for the people of Lakhipur, “I’ve received many complaints that there’s no playground for the general people here, so we have sanctioned 12 crores rupees for the construction of a big stadium which will satisfy the needs of everyone in the constituency.” The CM has also assured another degree college for the people of this constituency, which he said will be constructed during the tenure of Kaushik Rai.
He has also promised various other plans for the benefit of the people of this constituency, ” We will make a hundred bedded civil hospitals and along with that, one GNM nursing school will also start soon, as we have promised during the election. Lakhipur will soon be among the top 10 constituencies of Assam.”
The work of the bridge is going on from the fund of the MLA Kaushik Rai, who has sanctioned 6.21 crore rupees. After the public meeting he went to the residence of Kaushik Rai and later left for Silchar Airport at the scheduled time. CM’s visit to Lakhipur proved to be very fruitful and now it’s only to be seen when these promised projects get completed.
