Accident in Ramnagar: 2-youth die on the spot, Police denies hit and run allegations
In a tragic turn of affairs two young individuals died in a road accident in Silchar. The accident took place at around 10:45 in Ramnagar area.
Two individuals riding on a motorcycle were on their way home in Borkhola constituency’s Balighat area. According to available information, the duo had gone to the fair and were heading back after eating dinner at a Dhaba in Ramnagar.
While the locals alleged that a speeding tipper ran over the motorcycle leaving both the individuals wounded in the middle of the road, the police had a different version all together.
Shanatanu Das, incharge traffic said that there was no collision. “The motorcycle was speeding and lost its control. There is no dent of a collision with a truck,” added Das.
The two deceased has been identified as Akhtar Hussain and Rahim Ahmed. Locals also alleged that the ambulance delayed in reaching the spot. “After calling 108 they took more than 30 minutes to reach the spot. If they had reached on time, we might have managed to save the two young individuals,” said an angry protester.
The locals also blocked the Silchar – Ramnagar road and the vehicular traffic was disrupted for more than an hour. About the deceased, Shantanu Das said both of them unfortunately lost their lives on the spot.
