Accident on the new bridge in Sadarghat; 2 injured
Sheer carelessness and lawlessness has resulted in two young boys lying injured in the middle of the road. A Maruti Suzuki Swift car plying on the wrong side of the bridge was involved in a collision with a motorcycle. At around 9:10 PM the accident took place at the newly built bridge in Sadarghat Silchar.
While it is mandated that a vehicle travelling from Silchar town towards Udharbond must use the old bridge, a car, disobeying the law used the new bridge. The car had Sanghita weds Joydeb written behind it which suggest it was travelling with passengers heading to a wedding. As per available information, the vehicle is registered on Nidhu Ranjan Das’ name. Registration number of the bike is AS11K 4765 whereas the brand new car’s registration number is AS11Q 6052
The two wounded on the other hand have been taken to the hospital. Locals gathered immediately and took them for treatment on a auto rickshaw. As per the locals they are residents of Madhurband area. “The car was travelling on the wrong side and the bikers did not wear helmet. It is a clear case of carelessness. The passengers were dressed for a wedding and many of us saw them crying. But, the moment people started gathering they fled,” says an eye witness.
The vehicle was later vandalised by the gathering.
