ADC Omar Sharif visits SMCH to check on patients; Curfew relaxed till midnight in Hailakandi

Hailakandi is gradually heading back towards normalcy, the situation on the ground has improved further as a result of which the district administration decided to relax curfew from 7:00am in the morning to 12 midnight. In a letter addressed to the mass, deputy commissioner, Keerthi Jalli said that the need of the hour is to maintain peace and communal harmony. “I am aware that imposition of curfew has caused inconvenience to you. I promise you that it is a temporary measure and done to act as a deterrent to the anti-social elements, ” she added in the letter.

Appealing to the people to stand strong against forces trying to create rift in society, Jalli said the administration has opened a control room with numbers 03844-223377/1077 and also a police control room with numbers 100/03844-222253/224595 for the public to report on any incident and also bring to their notice any objectionable post on social media.

The deputy commissioner assured the people that the miscreants who triggered the violence will be brought to book and stringent action will be initiated against them as per provisions of law.

On the other hand, ADC Hailakandi Omar Sharif visited Silchar Medical College and Hospital to check on the patients being treated there. Out of the eight who got injured in the clash with the security personnel one identified as Javed Ahmed Barbhuiya has been referred to Guwahati for better treatment. Mehboob Ahmed and Ainul Haque were operated in SMCH today and bullets were successfully removed from their body.

The ban on the Internet has been lifted too, Keerthi Jalli said the administration is keeping a close watch on social media activities.
