After DC Cachar’s order to shut educational institutions, Assam University postpones odd-sem TDC examinations
In pursuance of the directives of Deputy Commissioner cum Chairperson, District Disaster Management Authority, Cachar, Assam University Silchar has issued a set of guidelines which includes the postponement of the examination.
Through a notice issued yesterday, the University informed offline activities of all Academic Departments of the University and affiliated Colleges of the District of Cachar shall remain closed from 28th April 2021 to 12th May 2021. “Online classes shall continue as notified,” stated the notice.
It also added, “TDC odd Semester examinations for the period 5th May 2021-12th May 2021 is postponed until further notice.” It is worth mentioning here that the students had protested demanding online or blended mode of examinations. The Controller of Examination did not pay attention to the demand and instead said the University cannot defer examinations as that would delay the proceedings and put the academic career of students in jeopardy. The graduation batch of 2018-21 must graduate by June 2021 so that they can pursue higher education without losing a year. How the University intends to conclude the ongoing odd semester examinations and conduct the final semester test in time remains to be seen.
In the notice issued yesterday, it is also mentioned that B.Ed practical Examinations of the District of Cachar only shall remain suspended upto 12th May 2021.
“Essential and urgent services of the University shall continue. Administrative wings of the University shall accordingly remain open from 11 AM to 3 PM upto 12th May 2021. Visitors during the period (upto 12th May 2021) will not be allowed in University campus. All hostels will remain closed. Research Scholars staying in hostels are expected to vacate the hostels as early as possible. While vacating the hostels, the boarders should take away all their belongings from hostel room and hand over the keys of the hostel room to the respective Warden,” stated the notice.
