Agartala - Bangalore Humsafar express derails; “no casualties” informs NF Railways
Narrow escape for the hundreds of passengers travelling to Bangalore from Agartala through Badarpur as the Humsafar express got derailed by “two wheels” between Churaibari and Kalkalighat railway stations. The Northeast Frontier Railway stated in a statement that they received information about the derailment at 8:15 AM.
NF Railways chief public relation officer, Pranav Jyoti Sharma informed that there were no casualties. “Cause of derailment is under investigation. Work of rerailment is under progress.The train has been taken back to churaibari and all needs of passengers are being attended to,” informed Sharma.
Few moments after receiving the information of derailment, an accident relief train was sent from Badarpur to take stock of the situation. “Senior divisional officers already at site. Safety and Engineering officers under AGM have left for site from HQ,” added Sharma.
The NF Railway informed that the engine was retailed at 11.10 am and the cause of derailment is under investigation.
