Air and train tickets will work as pass during lockdown in Barak Valley; no need to cancel tickets
After Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli announced yesterday about the lockdown from August 27 to September 4, a cloud of uncertainty started looming over those with pre-booked air and train tickets.
While the lockdown prohibits plying of nonessential vehicles, there will be an exception for the residents with train and flight tickets, informed Cachar DC.
The flight and train ticket will work as the pass. The person traveling must furnish the ticket when stopped and he or she will be allowed to travel to Kumbirgram airport or Badarpur Railway station. The driver of the vehicle must have a copy of the ticket too.
In case someone hires a taxi or auto for a trip to the airport or railway station, the copy of the ticket will work as a return pass for the vehicle. However, the administration will take action if the time of return does not match with the time of travel.
A senior officer in the administration said, “If the flight or train departed at 1:00 PM and the taxi or Auto is returning at 8:00 PM, we will take action against the driver of the vehicle. The passengers with a valid ticket won’t face any problem in their transit to the airport or railway station.”
In her order issuing the lockdown, DC Keerthi Jalli said, “A significant number of the patients are turning into symptomatic Covid+ve from hitherto asymptomatic Covid+ve which has constrained the resources of the district particularly the availability of ICU beds in Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). It has also been given to understand that unless stringent measures are put in place to contain the spread of the pandemic by breaking the chain of transmission, there may be large scale incidence.”
