Allegations of huge corruption in construction of Madhura bridge, Yet to be completed even after 5 years
The construction of a bridge over Madhura river started at Cachar’s Udharbond back in 2018. Despite five years since the work started, it is yet to be completed. As per reports, 10 crore rupees was allotted for the construction of the bridge in 2018. It has been alleged that the contractor used low quality materials due to which the department kept the construction work on hold. Hence, even after five years the bridge is incomplete.
As per the allegations of locals, the construction of the bridge was sanctioned due to the long pending demands made by the people of Madhura GP. A few days after the work started, it was stopped. The local people are crossing the half constructed bridge everyday risking their lives including students and patients. At any moment, a terrible disaster can take place. The locals asked the Government why the bridge was incomplete despite voting in the elections. They urged the Chief Minister to pay special attention to the situation and complete the construction work soon.
