Alleged Land Mafia Assaults Couple In Rongpur, Woman Admitted To Hospital

A woman was allegedly assaulted and robbed during a land dispute at Rongpur Part-IV in Silchar on December 21, 2025, prompting the filing of an FIR at the Silchar Sadar Police Station against an alleged land mafia and his associates.

According to the complaint lodged by Farida Khanum Choudhury of Kadamtala, Rongpur, the incident occurred around 12:10 PM on Sunday when her neighbour, Md Lucky Borlaskar alias Khushed, along with others, allegedly trespassed onto her land and began measuring it with the intention of selling it off by force. When her husband, Md Aklas Uddin Choudhury, tried to intervene, he was allegedly pushed to the ground.

Sharing details, the victim’s daughter said, “Lucky aka Khushed came to our land to occupy it forcefully. When my father tried to stop him, he pushed my father and he fell down. When my mother rushed there, he kicked and beat her. Blood was coming out of her mouth and she became senseless due to trauma. He snatched a golden chain from her neck.” She added that her brother later picked up their mother and the family rushed to the police station to lodge an FIR.

In her statement, Farida alleged that she was beaten with sticks, fists and kicks, leaving her seriously injured, and that her gold chain worth Rs. 1.10 lakh was snatched. She further claimed the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter.

Calling the accused a habitual offender, Farida said, “He is our neighbour but he is a land mafia. After assaulting me, he said I would never get my land back.”

Following the incident, the injured woman was taken to SM Dev Civil Hospital for treatment. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused.
