Aman Singh’s century for India Club goes in vain as Pritam Das leads Town Club to Super Division title

Town Club clinched the Silchar District Sports Association (DSA) Super Division Cricket Tournament title, defeating arch-rivals India Club by 19 runs in a gripping derby final at the Satindra Mohan Dev Memorial Stadium on Saturday.

The final, which started late, was reduced to 35 overs per side, but the shortened format only added to the drama as the contest went down to the final over before Town Club sealed the championship.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Town Club posted 212 for 6 in their 35 overs, putting up a competitive total on the board in the high-stakes final. The innings was anchored by Sourav Saha, who scored a composed 52 off 62 balls, while Bharat Newar played an aggressive knock of 48 from just 28 deliveries, striking five fours and three sixes to provide late momentum to the innings.
Chasing 213 for victory, India Club rode on a spectacular century from Aman Singh, who produced a fighting 115 off 79 balls, smashing 10 boundaries and six sixes. His innings kept India Club firmly in the hunt throughout the chase and ensured the final remained alive till the closing stages.

However, despite Singh’s brilliance, the rest of the batting lineup struggled to provide sustained support. India Club eventually finished on 193 for 9 in 35 overs, falling short by 19 runs after a tense final over.

Leading from the front, Town Club captain and seasoned professional Pritam Das, a former Ranji Trophy cricketer, delivered a crucial spell with the ball, picking up 3 wickets for 36 runs in his seven overs to halt India Club’s charge. Danish Ahmed and Samik Das also chipped in with key wickets to tighten Town Club’s grip on the contest.

With the victory, Town Club emerged champions of the 7th Super Division Cricket Tournament, concluding the DSA season with a memorable derby win over their city rivals.

While Town Club celebrated the title, Aman Singh’s valiant century stood out as the defining individual performance of the final, nearly turning the game in India Club’s favour in what proved to be a thrilling end to Silchar’s premier domestic cricket competition.
