Aman Singh’s century lights up Day II of Barak Premier League; Silchar Lions secure comfortable chase

Day II of the Barak Premier League Season IX, organised by the Silchar Veteran Cricketers’ Club, witnessed two exciting encounters at the Satindra Mohan Dev Memorial Stadium in Silchar, including a spectacular century by Aman Singh.

In the first match of the day, Sonai Titans produced a dominant performance to defeat Barak 99 Yards by 135 runs after posting a formidable total.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sonai Titans piled up 210 for 3 in 20 overs, courtesy of a brilliant unbeaten century by skipper Aman Singh, who smashed 102 off 54 balls, laced with 12 fours and five sixes. Aman anchored the innings with authority and kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace.

He found strong support from Sameer Sinha, who struck 60 off 38 deliveries, while Saurav Dey added a quick 20 not out off 10 balls towards the end to push the total beyond the 200-mark.

Chasing a daunting target, Barak 99 Yards collapsed under pressure and were bundled out for 75 in 17.3 overs. Only Md Taijuddin (31 off 22) showed some resistance, but the rest of the batting line-up failed to withstand the disciplined bowling of Sonai Titans.

For the Titans, Sahar Barbhuiya and Subhajit Paul picked up two wickets each, while Sahil Hassan Laskar, Parul Ahmed, Kalam Reja and Sameer Sinha chipped in with a wicket apiece to complete a comprehensive victory.

The second match of the day saw Silchar Lions defeat Udharbond Transformers by seven wickets in a one-sided contest.

After electing to bat first, Udharbond Transformers struggled to build momentum and managed 116 for 9 in their 20 overs. Masum Ahmed top-scored with an aggressive 34 off 15 balls, while Dibakar Goala contributed 19. The innings was largely restricted by a disciplined bowling display from Silchar Lions.

The standout performer with the ball was Vision Panchal, who delivered a superb spell, claiming 4 wickets for just 15 runs in four overs. Captain Samik Das also impressed with two wickets.

In reply, Silchar Lions chased down the target comfortably, reaching 118 for 3 in just 11.5 overs. Pradyun Saikia set the tone with a brisk 36 off 19 balls, while Bishal Roy remained unbeaten on 36 off 21 deliveries to steer the team home. Captain Samik Das (10 not out) provided the finishing touches as the Lions sealed victory with plenty of overs to spare.

With a commanding win for Sonai Titans powered by Aman Singh’s century and a clinical chase by Silchar Lions, the second day of the Barak Premier League delivered both individual brilliance and team dominance, setting the stage for more exciting matches in the tournament.
