Amidst death threats to Biplab Deb, man caught with pistol on way to Agartala

Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Deb has been receiving death threats for a while now. Amidst all of that, Tuesday night, the police team caught a man and recovered three pistols and 25 live cartridges from a hotel at Dharmanagar in Tripura.

On the basis of a tip-off, the police conducted an operation last night in a hotel at Dharmanagar and arrested Pranjit Das. They also recovered the pistols and ammunition from him. Pranjit hails from Debipur in West Tripura district.

During interrogation, Pranjit confessed that he was about to sneak out to Agartala with the pistols and ammunition. Since it was quite late, he decided to stay at Dharmanagar for the night, police sources added.

The culprit, however, has not divulged any details of why he was going to Agartala with the arms.

As per latest reports, Pranjit is being grilled thoroughly by the police.
