Amidst lockdown Sonai Police nabs Bangladeshi citizen who entered India illegally

It might be a nationwide lockdown in India where the majority of the country’s population is staying indoors but the Police officials are very much doing their duties with due diligence. Today evening in Cachar district’s Sonai area the police officials nabbed a Bangladeshi citizen who entered India illegally and has been staying here for the last three years.

In Sonai’s Swadhin Bazar area an individual identified as Sahib Uddin Khan was nabbed today evening. 33-year-old Sahib Uddin Khan is the son of late Firoz Ali Khan a resident of Zakiganj area in Bangladesh’s Sylhet district. Police officials informed that Sonai Police Station’s border staff have taken up the matter and is investigating further.

As per sources, Sahib Uddin Khan kept his Bangladeshi identity hidden when he started living in Swadhin Bazar area. In fact, if sources are to be believed then he got married to an Indian girl living in the area. However, after his identity got revealed the bride’s family disowned the wedding and got the girl back. He too left the place and allegedly started working somewhere in Mizoram. Recently, he returned back to Swadhin Bazar and allegedly started meeting with his wife.

It remains unknown if the bride’s family lodged a complaint to the police or if the police officials acted based on their own intelligence. What remains as a fact is that the police officials nabbed him from a temporary settlement built under a bridge in Swadhin Bazar area. Police officials have confirmed that Sahib Uddin Khan has confessed that he is a Bangladeshi citizen and entered India without valid documents.
