An auto-driver’s astonishing death shocks many in Silchar

Today afternoon, an auto rickshaw driver heading towards Rangirkhari from NIT, stopped by a chat house near the Post Office located between NIT and SMCH. As per an eyewitness, the auto driver rushed out of the auto rickshaw and sat on the bench at the chat house and within a fraction of a second after sitting, he fell down on his face. The chat house owner Debashish Das immediately called 108 and informed Gunghoor Police about the incident.

“The 108 (ambulance) reached the spot and the official declared the driver dead. Police too reached the spot and started searching for an identity but could not find one,” says the eyewitness.

The Police, however, recovered the registration certificate of the vehicle and other documents which indicated that Rongpur part IV resident Moloy Chakraborty is the owner of the auto rickshaw. “The auto union reached out to the owner and informed him about the incident. The Gunghoor police officials asked the owner to report at the police station,” informs the eyewitness.

The auto driver, as per latest available information is still unidentified while his body is kept at the morgue in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
