An easy way of lifting buildings in Silchar; effective solution of water logging, guaranteed safety

Water logging inside residences is a common issue in Silchar town and the adjoining areas. Due to lack of drains and increase of the height of road level, the houses built spending hard-earned money are seen underwater. Irritated with this, many house-owners are selling their building with a heavy heart and buying flats in the apartment.

Haryana-head quartered Kamboj Building Lifters have come up with an effective solution for this problem. Without demolishing the building, by using modern technologies, they lift the buildings. Last year, they lifted Prabhat Paul’s residence in Bilpar by six feet.

“We use jacks, as many required to lift the buildings. After lifting, we hand over the house to the owner as it is,” said Pawan Shisodia, the engineer who personally oversees the entire procedure.

The walls of Pranesh Paul’s building in Vivekananda Road remains as it is after the building is lifted by five feet

After handing over the building to Prabhat Paul, they are currently lifting another building in Vivekananda Road. The owner of the building Pranseh Paul has given the contract to Kamboj Building lifters on November 28. They have lifted the building by five feet and are now working on the finishing touch. “We will handover the building to them by the first half of January,” said Shisodia.

Paban Paul, who has also got his building lifted by the Kamboj Building Lifters said that apart from increasing the height of the building, the process adds value for the owners. “The life of the building gets improved by at least 100 years. This is simply because the pillar that they build to support the building is much stronger than the existing one. After the height is improved, and the floor is built, it looks the same as before. But because of the increased height, the owners are certain to get a better resale value,” said Paban Paul.

This building in Bilpar has been lifted six feet by Kamboj Builders last year

Two engineers along with 35 trained labourers travel from Haryana. They stay at the same house they lift. “Only the floor of the ground floor needs to be reworked. Rest of the building remains undamaged throughout the process. In case, the owners feel hesitant, we sign a legal document while taking the contract. Any damage to the building we are lifting is our responsibility. If it breaks, we will build the entire building at our own expense,” informed Shishodia.

The Kamboj Builders bill the house owners on a square feet basis. Each floor is measured separately, for example, the first floor is 1400 square feet, the second floor is 1600 square feet and the third floor is half-built and has a roof on only one part spread across 800 square feet, the Kamboj builder will bill on 3800 square feet.

Kamboj Builders uses hundreds of jacks to lift the building

The residents will need to vacate the building before the lifting process begins. “We will provide the list of materials required and the owner will need to provide it to us. From labour management to complete the work in time, we take the entire responsibility,” said Shishodia.

With the roads going higher, Paban Paul, who got his own house lifted believes that many other owners can use the benefit of lifting technology. “When they were lifting my house, at it was on jacks, there were two intense earthquakes, yet, nothing happened to the building. After they lifted the house it withstood two more earthquakes and that is why I recommended it to my relative Pranesh Paul, whose house is being lifted in Vivekananda Road.”
