Another act of terrorism; another school in Assam allegedly bombed by Mizo miscreants last night
The attempt to terrorise the locals in Lailapur, as well as the Assam Police, continues on the Assam-Mizoram border. Another school has been bombed in the state of Assam. The locals allege that the Mizo miscreants are behind the bombing again.
DIG Southern Range, Assam Police Dilip Kumar Dey has confirmed that the school has been bombed and as per Police records, the incident took place at around 1:30 am at night.
“We have set up a border outpost in Khulicherra area inside the boundary of Assam for the deployment of Sasatra Sena Bal (SSB). The forces deployed by the Mizoram government had shown resistance while we went to inspect the area. Despite their resistance, we went ahead to set up the border outpost and my sense is that this bombing is an act of revenge,” said DIG.
The DIG has confirmed that Upper Painom upgraded LP School located in Upper Painom Village under Hawaithang Post Office has been bombed. The locals in the area said they saw Indian Reserve Mizoram jawans guarding the miscreants who came and bombed the school and celebrated while walking back as a victory march.
The headmaster of the School, Dhrubojyoti Das had gone to inspect the school in the morning after knowing that his school has been bombed. “I could not reach the school where I am employed as the headmaster,” said Das.
He added, “The school is now heavily guarded by the Mizoram Police and other forces deployed by the government of Mizoram. They have stopped me from going to my school.”
According to Assam Government’s records, UPPER PAINOM UPGRADED LP School was established in 2009 and it is managed by the Department of Education. The school consists of Grades from 1 to 5. The school has a building developed by the Government of Assam. It has got 2 classrooms for instructional purposes. All the classrooms are in good condition. It has 2 other rooms for non-teaching activities. Well good condition, not anymore!
The registered school code is 18210328301 and it is located in Cachar district inside the state of Assam.
This is the second time a school has been bombed inside Assam. The government has so far, called for restraint and appealed for peace. On the other hand, armed men kept pointing their guns towards the people of Assam.
Bombing amounts to terrorism. A school in Khulicherra area was bombed on October 24, but the investigation carried out so far, is not how terrorism activities are investigated. The chief secretary of Assam, Jishnu Baruah had said that the appropriate agency will investigate the bombing of a school in Khulicherra. When asked if NIA will take up the investigation for an earlier bombing carried out ten days back, he replied, “Can’t confirm this yet.”
Now there is one more on the list. How the Government of Assam responds to the bombing carried out last night, remains to be seen.
