Another road accident involving Tipper in Barak Valley; Biker spot dead
In a road accident in Karimganj’s Patherkandi bypass area, a young boy has lost his life. As per available information, a young biker was riding fast when it collided with a fast driving tipper truck coming from the other side.
This stretch in the bypass has become an accident prone area.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Kuddus. According to locals, he is a resident of the Tilagaon area. The police officials rushed to the spot and towed both the vehicles.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin, SP of Karimganj, Mayank Kumar informed that the department has identified Patherkandi as a sensitive stretch for vehicular traffic. He added that because there is no round-about in that area, the number of accidents occurring in that stretch is so high.
Mayank Kumar feels proper checking of documents especially the validity of driving license can reduce the number of accidents. He also stressed upon the importance of using helmets. The Police often come across motorcycle riders who ride without a valid license and ISI certified headgear. Kumar asserts it is a collective responsibility of all the stakeholders to ensure that all precautionary measures are duly taken.
About the dark spots on the road, SP Kumar said, “Road safety is a work in progress and something that cannot be sorted overnight. We have been working on it and will work more intensely on the stretch near Patherkandi.”
