Assam Premier Club Cub organised under the aegis of Assam Cricket Association which is also known as the scouting tournament for the State team across age group is underway in the entire state including Silchar. Six clubs contested among each other for a spot in the final of the district championship. The winner of the district round will play in the Zonal rounds for a spot in the final rounds.
Today, in the second semi final of the APCC Cachar district round India Club took on Uttar Para Club. Batting first India Club posted a huge score of 265 runs in their 40 overs. The catalyst for India Club’s batting success again is the emerging sensation Abhishek Deb. The under 19 captain of Cachar District who got a call for the State Age Group team earlier this year, scored a century in India Club’s previous match against Itkhola AC which was a quarterfinal for them. Batting against the likes of experienced Pritam Das, swinging Samik Das, Deb retained his composure and played his natural cricket – fearless and aggressive.
Today, he started from where he ended against Itkhola. Uttar Para’s Abhijit Das Choudhury had sent both the openers back to the pavilion and it was setting up for a mighty upset. But then came Abhishek Deb and steered the innings along with Amit Yadav (30) and Raju Das (21). Prashant Kumar who has been struggling for runs this season scored 39 runs ans showed signs of form. Deb got out after scoring 62 runs in 63 balls. Das Choudhury ended with four wickets in his eight overs. Mukesh Goala picked three wickets.
Deb bowled his full quota of eight overs and picked the wicket of opener Mukesh Goala. Uttar Para could only score 192 in their 40 overs. Captain Anupam Roy scored 32 and Sandipan Das scored 48. Amit Yadav picked three wickets for India Club.
India Club will now take on the Town Club in the final of APCC district leg of the tournament.
