Armed Dacoits loot a house in Barak Valley; Panic among locals

A group of about eight to ten dacoits armed with three guns, knives, swords broke into a house in Barak Valley and looted it. The shocking incident took place in Sildubi – Kalibari road which is located in Sonai. At around 2 AM last night (early morning) the dacoits broke into Piklu Choudhury’s resident. As per his statement, the dacoits looted his house and shop which is located next to his house. 

According to Choudhury, there were around 12 members in the dacoit group wearing masks and black clothes. He states that there were a couple with their faces exposed and he can identify them. The dacoits after looting the shop and his house got on a Tata Sumo and drove off. Locals heard Piklu Choudhury and his family members screaming and so they rushed out. Even they noticed a white car speeding off. According to Choudhury’s estimate, the dacoits looted around Rs three lakh cash along with some other valuables.

After getting the information, a team of Police officials headed by SI Ananda Medhi of Silchar Sadar Police Station rushed to the spot with a sniffer dog. As per the latest available information, the Police is yet to make a breakthrough. They stated that the investigation is going on and they are trying to nab the culprits.

This shocking incident caused panic in the locality and the citizens are now questioning security arrangements
