Ashish Haldar submits nomination; “BJP karyakartas want me to contest,” he says
Putting end to all the speculations, Ashish Haldar has submitted his nomination at the Cachar Zila Parishad office earlier today. He had asked for a ticket from the BJP but the party decided to stick with the deputy speaker Aminul Haque Laskar.
Irked by the party’s decision Ashish Haldar resigned as the primary member and today submitted his nomination.
Speaking with the press after filing his nomination, Haldar said he has decided to contest after discussion with BJP’s karyakartas in Sonai constituency.
“I had asked for a ticket to contest in 2016. That time I was told that I will be considered in 2021. Since the party did not consider my request, I have decided to contest independently,” he asserted.
There is a rumour that Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Rajdeep Roy went to meet Haldar at his residence last night at around 11:30. “I was not at my home last night. I have been told that senior partyworkers went to meet me at my residence. It is unfortunate that we could not meet each other,” said Haldar when asked about the meeting last night.
With Haldar contesting, BJP votes likely to get shared in Sonai. Will the BJP VS BJP fight not put AIUDF in drivers’ seat? “How is it BJP vs BJP? I am not in BJP anymore and I am contesting independently. All I can say is that I am going to win the election,” said Haldar.
