Assam Chamber of Commerce forms new chapter; appoints Vivek Podder as founder president

South Assam Chapter of the Assam Chamber of Commerce (ACC)was formed in Silchar today at a program organised at Hotel Ellora.

Ashit Dutta, a prominent businessman of the region chaired a meeting where Vivek Podder was appointed as the convener. Podder has also been trusted with the responsibility of founder president.

In the same meeting, it was decided that Mridul Majumder and Buddhadev Das will be the vice presidents of the ACC while Chiranjit Ghosh was given the responsibility of general secretary. Sarnali Choudhry was appointed as the assistant general secretary while Ashish Haldar was made the treasurer.

In addition, a very dynamic team of Executive members and hugely experienced Advisory team will assist in taking the initiatives forward

“South Assam has a huge opportunity for the development of trade and commerce as Government today is working towards the development of this sector which was neglected in the past. This organisation will take the help of all members and citizens for the development of business in South Assam including coordination with bureaucrats and Government,” the committee stated in a media statement.

The statement added, “South Assam Chapter of ACC will work in close contact with all Government institutions and NGOs in order to ensure that the trade and crafts of this area can get a regional and National market now and  International markets in future. Development of IT zones in this area will be one of the key initiatives in the future.”
