Assam Government cancels SEBA HSLC and AHSEC HS examination; Committees to be formed to evaluate results

Assam Government today in a meeting with its Education department has decided to call off its Class 10 SEBA examination as well as Class 12 AHSEC examination keeping in view the current Covid situation of the state. Earlier, while the State Cabinet recommended not to conduct exams, Chief Minister Himanta Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that the Education Department will decide after a meeting with the stakeholders.

Assam Government will now form two committees – one for SEBA, and one for AHSEC, which will be formed by eminent personalities, who will evaluate a formula best suited for current situation. Result to be out by 31st July.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that if the exams could not be conducted, the school-based evaluation will be considered for the promotion of the students. He also said on June 10 that the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will conduct HSLC and HS exams in mid-July if the Covid positivity rate drops below 2 per cent.
