Assam Government lifts weekend lockdown, night curfew; Barak Valley to return to normalcy from tomorrow
The nine-day partial lockdown imposed in all three districts of Barak Valley comes to an end today. However, as per the order issued on August 3, weekend lockdowns were to be followed across the state.
There was a cloud of uncertainty in Barak Valley, people were in doubt if the lockdowns will get over today or on Monday after the weekend. The Chief Secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna has put the speculations to an end. “The weekend lockdowns and night curfew has been lifted across the state,” informed the chief secretary.
While speaking with Barak Bulletin, he said, “The decision has been taken according to the Unlock 4 guidelines shared by the central government.”
About Barak Valley, the chief secretary said, “The restrictions imposed for nine days come to an end today so from tomorrow it will be back to normal.”
However, he stated that the COVID protocols have to be strictly followed.
The Cachar district administration, on its Facebook page, shared “Please continue to follow covid protocols to protect yourself and your loved ones.”
