Assam Govt. to hold cabinet meeting in Silchar on Nov 11; 35.800 Scooters to be distributed among meritorious students

In the Assam Cabinet meeting held today, the government took several key decisions concerning education and tourism. Among the key decisions was the distribution of scooters for meritorious students. Like every year, this year too the meritorious girls who passed the Class 12 board will be awarded scooters. But this year, the government has also decided to not leave the male students behind. Among the other decisions, the cabinet has decided to meet for the next session in Silchar. 

Like every year, this year too the meritorious girls who passed their Class 12 boards with ‘First Division’ will be awarded a scooter. A total of 29,748 girls will be awarded scooters this year. Along with that, 6,052 boys will also receive the scooters. 258.9 crore rupees have been incurred for this. The distribution will start on November 30 this year, the first lot will be received by the students of Kamrup and Kamrup Metro and gradually continue in the other districts.

The cabinet in another key decision has also announced a salary hike for assistant professors of provincialized colleges of Assam. The salary is now hiked to 55 thousand rupees for the assistant professors for the colleges under Assam Government. Other than that, the government has also announced the distribution of micro-finance loan cheques among women. The cheques will be distributed throughout the state in all the districts on October 28, 29 and 30.
