Assam man goes missing from Mizoram border; "Mizos shared an image of my brother on WhatsApp, he looks dead."

A man identified as Intiaz Ali went missing yesterday from the Lailapur area in Cachar district. This is the area that shares borders with Mizoram and has witnessed massive tension in the last fifteen days. Many shops and dwellings were set ablaze by Mizo-miscreants driving families homeless. They have taken refuge in a local school as arranged by the district administration.

Yesterday morning, 40-year-old, Intiaz Ali went to the forest in Assam to collect stray woods and bamboos. He did not return to his home. “Every day he goes to collect woods in the morning and returns around 11:30 – 12:00 noon. Yesterday, he did not,” said Imtiaz Ali’s brother.

By the evening, he says, they started living a nightmare. “The Mizos who knew us started saying something has happened. Withing moments we got to that Mizos shared an image of my brother on WhatsApp, he looks dead. We have also got the image and it is clear that he has been brutally beaten,” shares Intiaz Ali’s brother.

“We will now go to the Police Station with the image and lodge an FIR immediately. It is clear that the Mizo miscreants have abducted my brother from the forest located in Assam and then beaten him mercilessly. We want justice,” added Intiaz Ali’s brother.
