Assam University Silchar announces TDC examination on April 27 to take place as per schedule; review meeting on May 3

Cachar reported more than 100 cases for two consecutive days and the current number of active COVID cases is above 500. Considering the rapid growth in the number of COVID cases, the Assam University Silchar had called for a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Academic Council.

It is worth mentioning here that the Assam University Silchar is conducting the odd-semester examination of degree students studying in colleges affiliated with the varsity. The meeting was to take stock of the situation and review the decision to conduct the offline examinations.

After the meeting, the Assam University Silchar issued a notice that states, “The 11th meeting of Standing Committee of Academic Council (SCAC) vide resolution no. SCAC:11:04-21:1 dtd. 26. April, 2021 has decided to hold a review meeting on the feasibility of holding Offline TDC Odd Semester Examinations of Affiliated Colleges of Assam University on 3rd May, 2021.”

The notice adds, “Accordingly, this is for information of all concerned that the examinations scheduled from  5th May, 2021 may be deferred if situation warrants. However, the examination scheduled on 27th April, 2021 shall be held as per routine already notified. There is no examination between 28th April, 2021 to 4th May, 2021.”

Earlier today, a few students from different colleges went and submitted an “ultimatum” to the additional deputy commissioner, in-charge education urging the administration to intervene and ask the Assam University to provide an online option to the students. As it stands, the University authority, despite the resistance from the students, will continue with the offline examinations.
