Under the leadership of coach-cum-manager Niranjan Das, Assam University Silchar’s cricket team is set to face off against Assam Down Town University on March 11th. The Central University has unveiled its roster of 14 players who will represent the institution in the esteemed state-level inter-varsity cricket tournament organized by the Assam Cricket Association.
Aman Singh, who plays in the senior district team and the Super Division organized by Silchar DSA, has been entrusted with the captaincy of the team. Serving as the vice-captain is Javed Ahmed Mazarbhuiya. The squad comprises notable talents such as former Under-19 District Captain of Cachar, Subhajit Paul, along with Super Division players Bishal Nag and Arindom Deb. The lineup is further bolstered by Shamim Khan, Saptajyoti Nath, Dinesh Karmakar, Uday Debnath, Sourav Das, Tarun Singh, Vivek Sinha, Anurag Sinha, and Abrarul Haque Mazumdar.
Following their clash with Assam Down Town University on March 11th, Assam University Silchar will lock horns with Cotton University on March 12th. Both fixtures are scheduled to be held at the grounds of Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat. The top team of the group will qualify for the knockout stages.
Among the 13 participating teams in the 2024 edition of the inter-varsity T20 tournament are Tezpur University, Gauhati University, Bodoland University in Kokrajhar, Bhattadev University in Bajali, Madhabdev University, Kumar Bhaskar Verma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University, Dibrugarh University, Assam Agricultural University, Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University, Cotton University, Assam Down Town University, Assam University in Silchar, and Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences.
