August 23 Cachar COVID update: 116 Positive, 3 died in SMCH and 16 critical

The district health department informed that 116 individuals have tested positive so far today. Out of them, 86 were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test Kit.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that the total samples tested by the microbiology department has crossed 78,000 mark till August 23. A total of 3,584 samples have tested positive for COVID19.

31 patients got admitted to the COVID ward at SMCH in the last 24 hours while 13 went home after recovering. Currently, there are 245 patients admitted to the COVID block.

Dr. Gupta added, “16 patients are in ICU at the moment and two have been placed under ventilation.”

In the last 24 hours, Gupta said, three patients infected by coronavirus breathed their last at SMCH. “Currently, 16 patients are in critical condition and out of them, 12 are in the ICU. Remaining four are being treated in the COVID ward,” informed Dr. Gupta.
