Ayan Barbhuiya Murder: Residents of Water Works Road join General Public in demanding intervention of Fast Track Court; Candle March today in Silchar
In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves across the town of Silchar, an eight-year-old boy was brutally murdered in broad daylight on Water Works Road. The incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, has resulted in widespread condemnation and demands for swift justice for the victim.
The police have arrested Appu Mazumdar as the primary accused in the case. According to the police, the murder was an extension of a long-standing property dispute between two families. The victim was innocently walking on the road when he was abducted by Mazumdar and stabbed with a dao. Despite being rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, the boy succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by doctors.
The residents of Water Works Road have come together in a show of solidarity and are demanding that the case be put in a Fast Track Court to ensure swift justice for the victim. The general public of Silchar has also joined the chorus and has called for a Candle March to be held today at 4:00 pm, starting from the statue of Khudiram Bose and marching towards Goldighi Mall in Premtala.
In a meeting held at the residence of former MP and Barrister, AF Golam Osmani, the residents of Water Works Road expressed their outrage over the incident and formed a Development Committee to keep a tab on activities unfolding in the area. The committee will also work towards ensuring that such incidents do not occur in the future and that the area is perceived in good faith. They also highlighted that the brutal murder of the innocent eight-year-old has defamed the area.
The demand for justice for the victim is growing louder with each passing day, and it is hoped that the authorities will take swift action to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. A Candle March was conducted yesterday in the Sonai area where the mortal remains of the eight-year-old were buried.
