Babul Bezbaruah receives Indian Medical Association Award for excellent services during COVID pandemic
In Assam, the first covid postive case happened in Barak Valley and the patient was kept at Silchar Medical College Hospital for about 40 days. The hospital has served as a place of trust for the neighboring states during the covid pandemic. Principal Babul Bezbaruah and his associates have skillfully led the whole process. In recognition of this work, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah is receiving the Indian Medical Association President’s Appreciation Award. The award was announced on Tuesday and the medical college principal himself told about it.
However, he is reluctant to take the credit for this award alone. He said, “Babul Bezbaruah did not get this award, the principal of the hospital got it. It means this award is a recognition of the work done by every person involved with the hospital. I couldn’t have dealt with the pandemic situation alone.”
The Principal added, “So, I think the credit for this award goes to everyone who works at Silchar Medical College. Not only Silchar Medical College but I would like to thank everyone in the Barak Valley. I thank them for tackling the situation with courage. I think everyone’s name from the valley should be engraved in the award. However, the covid spread hasn’t stopped yet and no vaccine has reached us till now. So everyone needs to be aware and that’s my message.”
Since the onset of coronavirus disease, Silchar Medical College Hospital has been the most trusted institution in Barak Valley and other neighboring states. They have faced hurdles one after another. Whenever the media has pointed fingers at them on various issues, they have been quick to make remedies and improve the situation.
The Medical College and Hospital played a pivotal role in handling the covid situation not only in Assam but also in the entire North-East and now got the due recognition by the Indian Medical Association President’s Appreciation Award.
