Badarpur in mourning after tragic deaths of Kanuj and Dilshad

Badarpur is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of two young lives, Kanuj Kumar Chutia and Dilshad Mohammad Imran, who tragically passed away just within two days following separate motor vehicle accidents. Both were candidates for this year’s secondary school (matric) exams, and their untimely deaths have cast a shadow of sorrow over the community.

Dilshad’s accident occurred on January 26 at the Karimganj bypass, where his bike allegedly collided with a pickup truck. Despite being rushed to the nearest hospital and later referred to Guwahati, he succumbed to his injuries on the early morning of January 29. Kanuj, who had visited Dilshad in the hospital after learning of his friend’s condition, was himself involved in a fatal accident just a day later. On January 27, Kanuj’s bike allegedly crashed into a wall in the Borgul area of Badarpur, and despite wearing a helmet, he succumbed to his injuries on January 28.

Both students were deeply cherished in their respective schools—Kanuj at Badarpur Paragon Senior Secondary School and Dilshad at Badarpur’s Rabdan Academy. Kanuj had aspired to become a doctor, while Dilshad, the only son of his parents, was looking forward to his matric exams. A condolence meeting was held at Al Hira National Senior Secondary School in Badarpur to honour their memory, with teachers, students, and parents deeply affected by the loss.Students and faculty at Paragon Senior Secondary School gave floral tributes to the departed soul after his mortal remains were brought to the school premise. Dilshad’s body is yet to be brought home for the last rites.

Badarpur now mourns the untimely departure of these bright young souls, and the community stands in solidarity with their grieving families.
