Bangalore Sreehatta Sammelani all set for Durga Puja 19; Purohit to fly from Silchar, hall to portray a village look
2019 is indeed a remarkable year for Bangalore Sreehatta Sammelani. A new beginning and a great leap forward to celebrate BSS Durga Puja. All the members in the organization are geared up as the days are nearing by.
BSS has been a home away from home for many since the organization is registered under Government of Karnataka, in 2006-07. Many Sylhetis who have either moved to Bangalore for work or staying together with their children participate in the three significant events of BSS such as “Borsho Boron”, “BSS Foundation Day” and “Bijoya Sammelani”.
Apart from that a picnic is also organized in the month of January which attracts a huge crowd of Sylhetis. All these events give opportunity to the members to interact and present the Sylheti culture that they have left behind.
This year BSS Durga Puja will be celebrated from 4th October to 8th October at Sri Kodanda Rama Kalyana Mantapa, Doddenakundi, Bangalore. So far, the hall is booked, Protima is arranged, Dhaki is planned, and Purohit Moshai is packing his bag to travel right from Silchar, Assam. The theme of the Puja will be “Go- Green” which will manifest in hall decoration and other activities. A complete eco-friendly Puja will be our effort towards a sustainable environment and a responsible citizen. The hall will be designed in a way to portray a village look.
The in-house cultural program from Sosthi to Novomi will be an eye-opener for the audience as dhamail, Sylheti Skit, and songs are lined up for the evenings. Children and adults are practicing alike to showcase their best. There is a long list of competition also that are planned during the Puja, which includes Drawing competition, Dhunuchi competition, Essay writing competition for kids, Sankho and Ullu Dhoni, and Alpona competition.
The idea behind BSS Durga Puja is to ensure a homely feel to one-n-all who is participating and to the ones who will visit the mantapa. Small kids will also find themselves engaged in multiple activities so that they can learn our culture and traditions that they definitely miss in the IT city of India. Wish us luck as we come together to worship the Divine Power.
