Barak Bridge inauguration postpones as Himanta Biswa Sarma reschedules his Silchar trip
Himanta Biswa Sarma Minister Finance, Health & Family Welfare, PWD, Transformation & Development, Government of Assam had to reschedule his visit to Silchar. Sarma confirmed the same to barakbulletin.com through a text message. The minister was supposed to visit Silchar and inaugurate the new bridge in Sadarghat over river Barak on February 25, 2019.
As per latest information, the inauguration has been postponed as the minister got stuck in other unavoidable meetings.
Alongside inaugurating the bridge, Sarma was scheduled to attend a ceremony in District Library. The finance minister himself sanctioned Rs 29.43 crore for renovation and development of the Silchar District Library. He was supposed to unveil the foundation stone in Police parade ground as flood lights are set to be installed in the ground which will be rebuilt as a track and field stadium. A mass gathering was expected in Silchar Police Parade Ground as the finance minister was set to address the public.
Senior politicians in the local BJP leadership in Cachar too mentioned that the Sarma was forced to cancel his trip due to some unavoidable engagements. However, they suggested that there is a possibility of Himanta Biswa Sarma traveling with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on March 2, 2019.
