Barak Valley floods: District administration direct schools to cancel all examinations in private and Government schools

Cachar district and so is entire Barak Valley in a state of dismay as the region is attacked by flood. The natural calamity has forced many to leave their houses and relocate themselves in relief camps. The administration feels in this state of havoc, it would be unfair for schools to go on with any sort of examinations till situation normalises.

The administration also mentioned to the inspector of schools CDC that many relief camps are established in school compound.

A letter signed by additional deputy commissioner and chief executive officer of district disaster management authority stated, “You are requested to direct all the schools under your jurisdiction, both private and government, to immediately cancel all sorts of examinations which was supposed to be held from tomorrow or this week. This is for your information and immediate necessary action,” concluded the letter.

The district administration’s move to cancel examinations is certainly a great one given the circumstances Barak Valley is in at this stage. There are families, which are staying in relief camps and they have no clue when they will go back to their house, what will remain and what would have vanished in the flow. And in such a state of mind, it is certainly unfair to ask the students to write their examinations.
