Barak Valley resident suspected to be Corona infected says, "I am being falsely-framed." Doctors say "no nCov"

Since last night, a message went viral on Social Media which states that a Sonai resident Faruk Hussain Barbhuiya has veen detected by Coronavirus and he must be admitted in the isolation ward at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Barbhuiya has filled the Self Reporting Form in Silchar Airport. The form suggests that he is suffering from Cough and Fever. 

The form which is issued by The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India is for, “All persons coming to India from 2019 nCov (Novel Covid) affected countries are required to fill up this proforma. You are required to provide the following information to safeguard your own health.” In the form signed by both Faruk Hussain Barbhuiya and the authority it is mentioned that, on his way from China, Faruk Hussain Barbhuiya stopped at Delhi.

However, Farukh says he never traveled to China, in fact, his trip did not include any foreign countries. “I traveled to Rajasthan and from there to Delhi and then to Silchar. I had a cough and fever and I was asked to undergo the screening at Silchar Airport. I did whatever they asked me to do, however, I have no clue why they mentioned China as I have never visited China in this trip,” said Farukh Hussain Barbhuiya while speaking with Barak Bulletin.

He added, “I am being falsely-framed. I have no idea why they have made this viral, in fact, I am planning to lodge a complaint at the Cyber Cell to track down the individual who circulated the fake news.”

Faruk said, he has visited Silchar Medical College and Hospital to get his health check-up done. “The doctors did a normal check-up and diagnosed that everything is normal and I am doing fine,” informed Faruk. He went on to say that he has requested D. Abhijit Swamy superintendent of SMCH to track down the official who leaked the report. “Dr. Swamy told me that the team at Silchar Airport is not under him and so he cannot help,” added Faruk.

Dr. Sudipjyoti Das, Joint Director, Health Service, Cachar confirmed to Barak Bulletin that Farukh Hussain Barbhuiya is not infected by Novel Covid. “Yes, it is true that he had some symptoms but a thorough medical check-up revealed that it is normal cold, cough and fever. He came to Silchar from Delhi but did not travel to any foreign countries in this trip,” said Dr. Sudipjyoti Das.

He added that the doctors advised Faruk Hussain to restrict public outing. However, he is not willing to do so as his medical reports are negative. He has attended a wedding and is now roaming around on his motorbike.

Faruk said he is hassled as he has received more than 1000 phone calls so far asking him all different things. He said he is shocked by the reaction. What is also shocking is why did Faruk sign a Self Report which states he has stopped in Delhi on his way to or from China while he has not visited the country.

However, as it turns out, there is no Corona in Barak Valley and therefore there is no reason for one to panic. The social media message and WhatsApp forward once again turns out to be half-baked.
