Barak Valley to have an Agricultural University; Sarbananda Sonowal directs department to setup
Some good news for Barak Valley is coming in from the State capital. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in a meeting with Agriculture Department directed the department officials to set up an Agricultural University in Barak Valley.
The Chief Minister was chairing a review meeting at the department and was of the opinion that an Agricultural varsity would boost agriculture in the state and will help uplift the farmers’ socio-economic condition. He has also asked the department to draw a blueprint which would enable students from other North Eastern states to enrol themselves in varsity.
The Agricultural University in Barak Valley was not his only suggestion to the department, he has asked them to set up a Horticultural University in hill areas too.
An Agricultural University in Barak will help the region’s cultivation and will also boost employment. The timeline of this project is yet to be announced, but Chief Minister’s direction is a great positive for the valley for time being.
