Bartalipi's machine man and helper brutally beaten and robbed; Cachar Police arrests 4

Daily Bengali newspaper Bartalipi’s machine man Johor Roy Tikon and helper Mithun Das were beaten and brutally injured by four miscreants today morning at around 4:15 am between Nightangle Hospital and Botertol. Their cash and mobile was also stolen by the miscreants. Coincidentally press staffs Swapan Das, Sadhan Das, Kripesh Das and Aminul Haque were passing by that area and they caught one miscreant while the others managed to escape from the spot. The miscreant was later handed over to Rangirkhari Police. Due to the assault carried out by the miscreants, Mithun Das received serious injuries in his head.

Because of this incident, machine man Johor Roy and helper Mithun Das couldn’t go to publish Prerna Bharati and hence today’s edition of Prerna Bharati wasn’t printed. It maybe mentioned that Roy and Das are associated with both Bartalipi and Prerna Bharati.

Johor Roy later filed an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Station alleging four people of the assault. The miscreants demanded 10,000 rupees from both Johor Roy and Mithun Das. As they didn’t have that much money, the miscreants took away the small amount of cash they had in their purse and snatched away their mobile phones.

Acting on the FIR, all the four miscreants were later arrested by the Police from different locations. The mobile phones of the press workers were also recovered from their possession. The names of the arrested miscreants are :

1. Pritam Sutradhar, aged 21 yrs, son of Nandalal Sutradhar, resident of Meherpur

2. Rupak Sutradhar, aged 23 yrs, son of Karuna Sutradhar, resident of 2nd Link Road

3. Akash Roy, aged 19, son of Late Sunil Roy, resident of Sabashpur, behind Joynal grocery shop

4. Jeet Bhattacharjee, son of Sidhartha Bhattacharjee, resident of Vivekananda road, Lane No.- 28, House No. – 18
