Big Breaking: Cachar Police detains five “land brokers” from their homes; CM says “Fight against Dalal Raj”
Today morning, Cachar Police under the instructions of district headquarters and state high command launched an operation to trace and detain land brokers operating from Settlement Office. The chief minister of Assam had earlier urged the circle officers to ensure that the Settlement Offices are free from “Dalals” charging heavy commissions.
His instructions remained unheard in Silchar as unauthorised middlemen continued to operate freely. They sat on chairs meant for permanent employees and charged hefty commissions from each applicant. Barak Bulletin exposed the Dalal Raj through a series of sting operation. The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma during his Assam visit lauded the reports published about Dalals and ensured strict action against them.
He stayed true to his words. Today morning, the Cachar Police personnel traced five such unauthorised middlemen and detained them from their respective houses. Police sources confirmed that the land brokers are now being transferred to Silchar Sadar Police Station.
“453 land brokers picked up so far in continuing raids by Assam Police in our concerted pledge to end #AssamFightsDalalRaj” tweeted the chief minister of Assam.
He added, “This notorious practice of brokers/dalals in revenue offices harassing commoners must end. Our fight against nefarious activities will go on relentlessly.”
The individuals detained will be interrogated for further investigation. Based on the investigation, the Police will decide the further course of action. There are more than five brokers for sure in Silchar, how the Police manages to uproot the nexus is something that remains to be seen.
