"BJP nominating ally Aziz Khan is not wrong, but only our alliance is unholy?" Questions Congress

Starting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to almost every BJP leader is attacking Congress in various ways for allying with the AIUDF. Sushmita Dev, President of the All India Mahila Congress (AIMC), answered the questions while sitting in Silchar with AICC spokesperson Supriya Srinath on Friday. Regarding the heavy criticisms faced due to allying with the AIUDF, Sushmita Dev said, ” The BJP can ally with Mehbooba Mufti’s party in Jammu and Kashmir. In Barak Valley, BJP’s ally AGP has fielded someone who was a former AIUDF MLA. Aren’t they unholy now? And when it’s in our case we are guilty? These are actually manifestations of BJP’s frustration. Because they have not been able to keep any of the promises they made five years ago.

Supriya Srinath said, “We saw the Prime Minister’s speech during Karimganj visit on YouTube. He seemed very frustrated and tired that day. He did not talk about any local issues, did not give any assurances and left the event in hurry.” He knew that his party could not keep its promises. Claiming to provide 2.5 million jobs, they couldn’t even provide 70,000 jobs. There are many more such issues where they have failed. As a result, his frustration is quite understandable.”

Referring to the citizenship issue, Sushmita Dev said, “They contested the elections raising the CAB issue in 2019. Later, it became law, but its rules have not been made to date. During the NRC, the common people had to sell everything to just prove that they’re Indians. Now, if they have to get citizenship through the CAA law, they have to prove first that they are Bangladeshis and came to India as a result of religious persecution. It is so ridiculous yet dangerous that even though it’s obvious, we still don’t realise it. And now this BJP will teach us about ‘Neeti’ and ‘Niyat’? ”

Sushmita further said, “Punjab has a population of about two and a half crore and Assam has a population of around four crores. With a population of 2.5 crores, Punjab has more than 10 lakh government jobs while our state has not had even one lakh jobs in the last five years. Earlier they had claimed 25 lakhs jobs, but now they have reduced it to 10 lakhs. They’re beating their own trumpet of failure. The work of our manifesto is almost over and I will present it to the public very soon. But when the BJP’s manifesto arrives, I will take it in my own hand and show the people just how they have deceived the common people in the last five years of their rule. “

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi visited the districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. He is likely to visit Barak Valley after March 25.
